This interview spotlight is for all women who are seeking to inspire and motivate other women to pursue their passion. We want to hear real stories from people we can relate to and learn from. Hope you will be inspired, encouraged and motivated by what they will be sharing. This week we caught up with Paris Walker.
Hie Paris, Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I am a 20 year old singer, songwriter and guitarist. At the moment I am an Illustration and Graphics student at University and I absolutely love all things creative !.
How did you come to know Jesus Christ and can you briefly share your Christian Journey with us?
I grew up in the church all my life but became a Seventh- Day Adventist Christian around the age of seven. Throughout the years my love for God has grown, to be honest I have never had a moment where I even doubted His existence I just knew he was there. God has truly worked throughout my life and allowed me to experience and get through things that without him would be impossible through my own human strength. I would describe my Christian journey as an exciting one! Constant learning and hope for what else God has in store for me.
What is your significant life bible verse?
ahh so many amazing verses to choose from but a significant one for me would be 1st Peter 2: 9 – “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Can you share some key lessons that God has taught you or that God is teaching you in this season of your life?
At the moment in my life I am working on my patience. I get anxious and excited about the future and sometimes I just want to know what will happen whether it be good or bad so I can at least prepare myself. However, God just reminds me to have patience and WAIT. All things are made perfect in His time and even something happening a second too soon may not be God’s best for me, so I’m learning to sit back and have faith that what He has for me is worth waiting for.
As a musician what advice would you give to other young women who feel the desire to serve God through music?
I would say go for it !. God has blessed you with a gift that should not be hidden. Use your life experiences good or bad to testify of how amazing God has been and how he has brought you through to where you are now. Be inspired by others around you and of course the word itself , this will not only bless you but allow you to creatively bless others.
Who inspires you and why?
There are too many people who inspire me to name. But most of my inspirations tend to be musical and this is because they share the same passion as me and it’s great to know such genuine people with a love for God who use their gift solely to spread the message of Christ. So many young musicians are looking to the world for recognition but those that inspire me remain in church pursuing a path that is pleasing to God. Those that aren’t necessarily musical inspire me just through their character, humbleness and their motivation to be successful.
